Director, Head Coach
Brent Deckert has over 20 years of collegiate and high school coaching experience in South Dakota and Minnesota. He has coached in 10 high school state tournaments and has been actively involved in coaching youth basketball teams and hosting youth basketball camps for over 15 years. He studied physical education at Minnesota State Moorhead University and has a master's of technology at the University of Sioux Falls. He is currently the head boys basketball coach for the Lynx.
Ben is a 2012 graduate from Brandon Valley High School. Ben scored almost 1,000 points during his tenure as an all-conference and all-state player under Coach Deckert. Ben went on to run track for NDSU where he graduated with degrees in human development/family science and elementary education. He current teaches at Brandon Elementary and is an 8th grade basketball coach at BVMS.
Darieon is from Osseo MN where he was a five-year basketball letter winner and earned football letters for three years. He was recognized as an all-metro football and basketball player. He played AAU basketball for 43 Hoops, Minnesota Magic, Thunderbirds and Howard Pulley Basketball. He graduated from the University of Minnesota where he played football for the Gophers.
Bill Freking has 20+ years of coaching experience including many years coaching boys basketball and football for the Lynx. Bill is currently the assistant AD for the Brandon Valley School District.
Zach Scholten was a 2017 graduate of Brandon Valley High School. The Academic All-Star played football, basketball and track at BVHS. He was also actively involved in chorus and served as an FCA huddle leader. Zach is a sophomore at Augustana University where he plays basketball.
Drew Jurgens was a 2017 graduate of Brandon Valley High School. He was an all-state football player and an all-conference basketball player for the Lynx. He is currently a sophomore at Augustana University where he plays football and studies sports medicine.
Alex Waltner was a 2017 graduate of Brandon Valley High School. He was an all-state football player and an all-conference basketball player for the Lynx. He is currently a sophomore at Augustana University where he plays football and studies elementary education.
Emma Terveer was a 2017 graduate of Brandon Valley High School. Emma was a 3 year starter for the Lynx basketball team. She also played softball and ran track. She is currently a sophomore at Northern State University where she plays softball and is studying elementary education.
