Team Brandon Valley players have had another busy week. Our girls teams went head to head with some strong competition at the “Fiasco at the Fieldhouse” tournament on the Iowa State Campus. We had a great trip to Ames and made some great memories both on and off the court. This week our boys teams had some serious gym time, getting better with every practice. We are thrilled to recognize the hard work of several players this week.
Paisley Hoff, 5th grade: Paisley’s coaches are recognizing her this week for her outstanding work ethic at the tournament last weekend. Paisley played anywhere she was asked and gave her best on every play. She made open shots, worked to become a better rebounder and was aggressive on defense. Paisley shared that her favorite movie is Overboard. Her favorite basketball players include the NBA’s Steph Curry and BV’s own Drew Jurgens.
Raygin Bohn, 5th grade: This weekend Raygin showed that she knows how to play hard - her hustle and effort made her a good example all weekend. Raygin’s coaches noted that she didn’t back down from anyone at the tournament and ended the weekend as our leading rebounder. The best advice she has received from her parents is “Free throws wins games.” We couldn’t agree more. When she grows up, Raygin wants to be an architect. She shared that her favorite BV athlete is a fellow rebounder, Drew Jurgens.
Jackson Hilton, 8th grade: Many of our players love to be in the gym, none of them more than Jackson Hilton. He is being recognized this week for all of the extra time he is spending on the court. Jackson is often one of the first in the gym and is always working hard throughout the full practice. Jackson’s favorite BV player is Dale Moss. He also loves gym class and his SnapChat app.
Gibsen Eszlinger, 5th grade: Gibsen’s coaches recognize the work he is putting into his game. All week Gibsen put in serious effort and worked closely with his coaches to get better through every drill. Gibsen’s work ethic will make him a player to keep on your radar. When Gibsen grows up he intends to be a professional athlete in either tennis or basketball. He shared the best advice he has received from his parents, “Don’t ever give up.” Gibsen’s favorite BV athlete is Chase Marso.
Matt Brown, 7th grade: Matt is being recognized as player of the week for showing leadership for his team. Matt isn't afraid to work on defense and has consistently put himself in a position to score when playing offense. Matt tells us if he could choose to do one thing all day, it would be to eat Buffalo wings! When he grows up, Matt wants to be an orthopedic surgeon. He also shared his favorite BV player is basketball and football standout, Alex Wilde.
