The Team Brandon Valley season is winding down, but we still have plenty of time to celebrate our players. Today we'll lift up some of our youngest athletes who battled for boards and made big plays during the Augustana Tournament during the weekend of July 8-9. Stay tuned for our final post when we celebrate our athletes from the Pentagon tournament last weekend.
Brady Thompson – 5th grade: We had some great guards play this weekend, but no one plays with the same intensity as Brady. He was matched up against some pretty large players throughout the tournament, but Brady never backed down. Brady tells us he plans to play in the NBA when he grows up. The best advice he has received from his parents is “Never give up.” His favorite BV athlete is Team BV coach, Drew Jurgens.
Jack Tews – 5th grade: Jack's hard work is paying off - he's has had a great summer and has seen his basketball skills grow. He’s focused on rebounding and is one of the best screeners on the team. Jack will be a player to keep your eye on again next season. He shares that the best advice he has received from his parents is to “Work out” which is why we see him so often in the gym. His favorite sport is basketball and he intends to join the NBA when he grows up. His favorite BV athlete is Drew Jurgens.
Bria Cady – 6th grade: Bria’s coaches were excited with Bria’s play at the Augustana tournament. They note that she was playing with intensity – always looking to take the ball to the basket and score. Her awareness of everything happening on the court makes her a valuable asset to the team. When Bria grows up she wants to be a chiropractor. The best advice she’s received from her parents is to "Always try your best." Bria shared that she likes to keep up with her friends through her favorite app: SnapChat. Bria’s favorite BV athlete is Drew Jurgens.
Nathan VanDeBerg - 6th grade: Nathan was a rebounding machine during the Augustana tournament. His rebounding skills were key to helping his team win three games and bring home the second place trophy! Nathan’s focus makes him a fun to watch. He tells us he wants to be an engineer when he grows up and his favorite sport is basketball. His favorite BV athletes are Chase Marso and Matt Vandeberg.
