Let's hear it for the girls!

Our girls teams have patiently been waiting for their time to compete - and last weekend it was finally their turn to shine. All three of our girls teams hit the courts in Harrisburg and we are so proud of their hard work and competitive spirit. All of our teams played well and the 7th graders even came home with a first place finish in the silver division. We are especially proud to honor them and these three players of the week.

Shelby Bergan, 4th grade: Coach Caden Deckert is recognizing Shelby for her hard work last weekend. On defense she demonstrated great ball pressure which paid off in several key steals. As the point guard, she faced tough opponents but kept her composure as she sliced and diced through the full court pressure. Shelby tells us she loves to play basketball because she wants to be active and play with her friends. She also plays softball and enjoys running. She’s looking forward traveling and playing more basketball this summer.

Libby Klein, 6th grade: Coach Terveer is recognizing Libby because she plays with determination regardless of the score. Last weekend she was constantly on the ground or diving through the air to save balls from going out of bounds. Libby attacked the offensive glass and got to the line to make key free throws. She tells us her favorite basketball memory is going undefeated with her third grade team. In addition to basketball, she plays cello and piano. She plans to join the track team next year. Libby’s favorite BV athlete is Jackson Hilton.

Kennedi Deckert, 7th grade: Coach Freking is lifting up Kennedi because she consistently worked hard throughout the tournament - leading the team to a 4-1 record. Kennedi showed intensity on defense especially when guarding the ball and putting pressure on the passing lanes. She assisted her team by driving to the basket and finding her teammates. Kennedi tells us her favorite basketball memories include time spent with her teammates off the court doing activities like laser tag. She also plays golf and volleyball. Kennedi’s favorite BV athlete is her older brother, Caden Deckert.
