Team Brandon Valley is just heating up

Last weekend was time for our younger Team Brandon Valley players to turn up the heat as they participated in the Sacred Hoops Tournament in Sioux Falls. Our girls teams brought their A game and took home two championships and one runner-up medal. We are always proud of all our players, and are excited to recognize these student athletes as our players of the week.

These 4th grade and 7th grade teams brought home championship medals last weekend.

Rayleigh Stultz, 4th grade: Coach Deckert is recognizing Rayleigh because she played with a high level of intensity throughout the weekend and did a great job of boxing out and controlling the boards. Her defensive effort against some very physical post players helped lead her team to a championship. Rayleigh tells us she likes to play basketball because she has so much fun with her friends. She also enjoys playing softball. Her favorite BV athlete is Emma Terveer.

Evie Hoff, 6th grade: Coach Terveer says Evie’s leadership was evident all weekend long. She consistently found ways to motivate her teammates, cheer on her teammates and pick them up whenever they were down. Along with being a leader, Evie handled the basketball well by getting the ball pushed up the court. She also always put good pressure on defense. Evie tells us she plays basketball because she gets to spend time with her friends as they work together to get better at the sport. She also enjoys volleyball and spending time with her sister. Evie’s favorite BV athlete is Hilary Behrens.

Mallory Babb, 7th grade: Coach Freking says Mallory works hard to put pressure on the ball and force the other team’s point guard to make mistakes. She is a fun loving teammate that brings excitement and enthusiasm to practices and games. Mallory tells us she likes to play basketball because it is fun to be with friends and get better together. She also enjoys track and volleyball. Mallory’s favorite BV athlete is Trinity Law.
